As Donald Trump’s term nears its end and the 2020 U.S. elections are in full swing, we went ahead and analyzed the websites of all the US election candidates. It turns out that many of them are using WordPress to power their digital presence.
Of course, we couldn’t help ourselves and ran some basic speed tests to see which 2020 U.S. Presidential election candidate hoping to succeed Trump at the office has the fastest WordPress website.
The results surprised us, so read on to find out whose website scored what!
Why the 2020 U.S. Election Candidates Sites Should be Optimized For Speed?
If you’re wondering why we’d even get into testing their websites for speed, here’s why:
People Find Information Online
First of all, the world has gone digital. A majority of people find information online and if they want to find out about a certain 2020 U.S. Presidential candidate, they’d probably visit their website. However, according to Google, “53% of mobile site visits leave a page that takes longer than three seconds to load”.
To Stay Up-to-Date With Current Expectations
Besides finding information on someone, it’s not a good idea to seem out of touch with the online world in 2019, or 2020 for that matter. It’s important that these candidates who might lead an entire nation look their part and are up to date with the expectations of the online generation.
There is a more important reason than that, though.
To Receive Donations for Campaigns
As U.S. Presidential hopefuls, these candidates ask for donations from their supporters to help whatever cause they’re rallying for. Since a lot of supporters prefer to donate online, a slow website won’t help their cause. This is one of the most important reasons why a U.S. Election candidate absolutely must have an optimized website that loads fast and allows the supporters to donate without any hassle.

So there you have it. These are the U.S. Election candidates we found that are using WordPress as a driver for their online presence, and out of these 7 websites, only Joe Biden’s website seems to be doing fine, but only relatively. Also, while tools like Pingdom do show the load times in milliseconds, those are relative figures because the actual loading time of almost all the websites were more than a few seconds.
